The Largest Prime Number - Little people (2007)
I think that this message from outer space already reached far places of russian Internet, but this is not an obstacle to listen it again. I only want to say that in this song besides a very good text there are some secret message: if we will listen this file in reverse, we'll hear, that the song begins with a TV-news fragment about a choir of pensioners from Sverdlovsk region singing contemporary songs of popular russian pop-groups "Tattoo" and "Glucose", and ends with a story about an action "Beslan is a city of peace", where in addition first graders draws guardian angels.

Franz Liszt - At the grave of Richard Wagner (1883)
Late works of Franz Liszt have been rarer performing by pianists. They have a lack of virtuousity, this music is often simple and meditative. It's surprising to me how so strong aspiration for meditation and prayer in music is permanently revealing in his powerful and passionate nature and increasing up to radically simplification of style and reversal of that virtuosic pianism, the symbol of which he is till now.
Wagner was a close friend of Liszt and at the same time his son-in-law. In 1883 Liszt was already 72 years old, he outlive Wagner just by 3 years. Of course, it was a bereavement to him, but what a Lohengrin's light and childlike open-hearted love impressed in this music with such a simplicity, that came from a very good taste and huge experience in music. Liszt wasn't need to amaze or conquer anybody, he was expressing by music more precisely and sincerely than many of us by words.

Mozart - Symphony No.1
Although it seems that Mozart is a most famous composer of all times, from all of his symphonies there are well-known last opuses (39-41) and rather known 35-38, but a major portion of his early symphonies are collecting dust on museum shelves. But one of my most favorite Mozart's symphonies is No.1. This is a strange story - other children's symphonies (written by 8-aged child prodigy) are considerably more formal, I feel more a learning process with his father Leopold Mozart than a really live music in them. But here, in first, is a startling charm in all three parts, where we will listen to the first part. This strange contrast of fanfare theme and soft chords with a very beautiful suspension of an oboe in 4-th chord, this playful second theme, where with future brand Mozart gesture a brilliant melody have been borning from nothing, this for some reason so poignant transformation of main chords into a minor in the development, multiplied by a huge talent of conductor Karl Böhm and Berliner Philarmoniker - how can anybody resist this?

Guano Apes. La Noix (2004?)
A chef d'oeuvre of alternative music from Guano Apes. Mindblowing french chanson from unpredictable Germans, where a time signature in refrain is jumping on 11/8 to the accompaniment of flying off the handle chromatic chords. I think that so accurate changes of time in heavy music can bring an uncomparable enjoyment to a listener with a capability of synchronous musical vibrations.

Heinz Holliger. "Schneewittchen" (1998). Prolog.
To be honest, the opera itself (that considering the fairytale from a viewpoint of contemporary psychoanalysis) feels so boring to me that I was never listening to it till the end. But prolog sounds as yet too suddenly finishing but fully independent work of unbelievable, charming beauty. If anybody will ask me about a music for a beginning of listening to a contemporary academic music, maybe I will recommend this one. This music is immidiately tossing you up to a completely new space. Who knows, will I ever learn to create something like that? It's a wonder of our time.

Valery Gavrilin - Russian notebook (1964) - Stradalnaya
Chivalry of Valery Gavrilin you usually can't detect at one moment, it comes with time. On the background of ordinary "national" music written with receipt "get this russian theme and add pathos" Gavrilin's music sounds like challenge, it's inconceivable brilliant. Russian art occasionally can touch heart so much that can't do any other art - it's Norshteyn's "Hedgehog in the Fog", it's Tarkovsky's "Andrey Rublev", it's Shostakovich's "Katerina Izmailova", for example... In Gavrilin's music you just can't find anything, this music is shockingly empty - almost without notes, without many possibilities for theoretical analysis. How can he do it?

Karlheinz Stockhausen (1928-2007) - Invisible Choirs (1979)
"Invisible choirs" by legendary 20th century avant-garde composer Karlheinz Stockhausen is a music from an opera "Thursday" from a huge opera cycle "Light: The Seven Days of the Week". The opera "Thursday" has been born chronologically first of seven. 16-channel choir recording that sings about the end of the world used in the opera like a background to an action (Michael's youth in act 1 and his return from a travel in act 3), but can be performed independently. Time in Stockhausen's music pass in a different way - it is cyclic and don't have borders. Sometimes it seems that music really can sound infinitely, and I wonder how it can be simultaneously so static and so interesting, trere are always occur some compex cosmic processes inside. This composition is 47 minutes long, so we will listen to a small fragment.

J.S.Bach - Partite D-dur (~1731) - Allemande
Very beloved Allemande that I've played once with an aspiration. There are surprising harmonic moves, very bold and unique for that time. And whole this music so delicate and... deciduous... This is an old recording of Rosalyn Turek performance, who, as says Glenn Gould himself, influenced him more than any other pianist.

Haydn - Symphony No. 4 - Andante

Alla Zagaykevych - To escape, to breathe, to keep silence (2001) - To escape
Very rarely can we find an academic electronic music that exudes an unhuman expression so much that you can feel a moisture on your ears. An attentively listening to one sound within a half of an hour, bare mathematical calculations, conceptual unarranged timbres, scientific researches in the guise of music - the music of an Ukrainian composer Alla Zagaykevych is, I think, a happy exclusion that avoided all of theese frequent vices of electroacoustic music. When I heard it at first time, I stood rigid on the place in headphones, because I've never listen nothing of the kind.

An another way of the musical reconsideration.
Heiner Goebbels is a contemporary deutsch composer. He combines and uses very different music styles. In this track audio recordings from the 1920s and 30s of Jewish Cantors were used, as if they are reborning on debris of an postwar city.

An another way of the musical reconsideration.
Heiner Goebbels is a contemporary deutsch composer. He combines and uses very different music styles. In this track audio recordings from the 1920s and 30s of Jewish Cantors were used, as if they are reborning on debris of an postwar city.
It can be hard to listen, but the ending is worth of it.

Dead Can Dance - Aion (1990) - Wilderness
Let's go from the Middle Ages to the contemporary incarnation of it. Amazing band "Dead can dance" shown their love to revive forgotten and seems to be obsolete things even in the name. I think that this version of contemporary stylization to the Middle ages seems to be almost the best - with a perfect feel of distance, a quality, a fineness, a complexity, an imitation work they climbs to an unattainable height.

Clement Janequin - Le chant des oyseaux (1529?)
Spectacular Janequin. This music written in 16th century, but sounds fresh even now. Main "feature" here - an onomatopoeia and special effects. :)

Steve Reich - Tehillim (1981) - part 1
I don't love musical style called minimalism, but this work stays apart. Minimalism is good and bad because of it's invention of an organized eternity based on a permanent changing and a stratification of patterns (small repeating music fragments) with a minimal displacement. When this method copied and pasted in thousands of compositions, it's too boring. But in this case it is the best method, because we have here a beautiful, exactly fitting to this technique melodic-rhythmic stuff that comes right from Hebrew Psalms texts. This is a very Judaic and, thanks to this, very ecumenical music.
