Nikolai Myaskovsky - Symphony No.6 (1923) - Finale

Почему-то мне показалось важным вспомнить сейчас эту музыку. Мясковский всегда кажется чуть старомодным, слишком аристократичным рудиментом уничтоженной России, но я глубоко убежден, что эта музыка еще очень надолго переживет всех нас. В начале финала цитируются различные бодрые революционные песни, а отвечает им трагическая колыбельная по погибшим. В конце к ней присоединяется хор со словами духовного стиха "Как душа с телом расставалася":
Что мы видели?
Диву дивную,
Диву дивную --
Телу мёртвую.
Как душа-то с телом
Расставалася,
Расставалася
Да прощалася.
Как тебе-то, душа,
На суд Божий идить;
А тебе-то, тело,
Во сыру мать землю.
For some reason it seemed to me important to remember now this music. Myaskovsky always seems a bit old-fashioned, too aristocratic vestige of destroyed old Russia, but I am deeply convinced that this music will outlive us all for a very long time. At the beginning of the final quoted various cheerful revolutionary songs, and then a tragic lullaby for the dead replies to them. In the end a choir joins to it with the words of a Russian folk burial hymn, "How the Soul Parted from the Body": "What did we see? A miraculous wonder, a dead body...".

Alfred Schnittke - Concerto grosso No.2, part 2 (1982)

Это музыка для меня связана с первым глубоким переживанием смерти и до сих пор остаётся в сознании в качестве некоей смертной памяти. Не настоящей смерти, а именно той, что приходит через эти звуки, но воспринимается как своя. Шнитке несомненно обладал трансцендентным опытом и как никто другой постоянно щупал и доискивался, как оно там - с другой стороны? В третьей и четвёртой части этого Concerto grosso он забрался очень далеко. А мы послушаем вторую часть, медленные и страшные вариации на очень с виду простое расходящееся ostinato.
This music is related for me with the first deep experience of death and till now remains in my consciousness in the capacity of some memory of death. Not a real death but exactly that which came in these sounds and grasped like own. Schnittke definetely had some transcendental experience and like no other had continually touching and finding out about one question - how it is to be there, on another side? In third and fourth parts of this Concerto grosso he reached very far about this. And we will listen to the second part, slow and scary variations on in looks very simple divergent ostinato.

Nautilus Pompilius - "Наугад" / "At random" (1990) - Black birds

Пожалуй, единственная рок-композиция, как-то отвечающая "Лесному царю" - "Чёрные птицы" группы Nautilus Pompilius. "Лесной царь" уникален тем, что один певец поёт сразу за 4-х персонажей - рассказчика, отца, ребёнка и самого Лесного царя. В этой же философской притче о природе страха персонажей лишь на одного меньше - рассказчик, царь и Чёрные птицы. В обеих композициях напряжение каждую секунду нарастает до самого конца. Разница реплик персонажей в этой песне подчёркивается ритмически - тараторящий рассказчик, более степенный царь и дерзкая пропажа одной восьмой в репликах птиц - размер меняется с 6/8 на 5/8, в котором песня и заканчивается. Кроме того, это единственная известная мне песня, начинающаяся с тритонанты (весьма далёкой от основного тона тональности на расстоянии тритона). Также меня давно интересует такая тема, как магическое камлание в концовках рок-композиций, когда музыка закольцовывается в какой-то заклинающий круг - здесь это тоже есть, как и почти в каждой композиции этого одного из лучших, на мой взгляд, альбомов русского рока.
Perhaps the only rock song somehow responsible to Schubert's "Erl King" is "Black Birds" of Nautilus Pompilius. "Erl King" is unique in that a singer sings right over the four characters - the narrator, father, child and the Erl King. And in this philosophical parable about the nature of fear are three characters, only one less - the narrator, the king and the Black birds. In both compositions, the suspence increases every second until the end. The different cues of characters in the song emphasizes by the rhythmic - jabbering narrator, than more sedate king and the daring theft of one quaver at the cues of birds, where the time signature changes from 6/8 to 5/8, in which the song ends. In addition, it is only known to me song that starts with tritonic key (es-moll, when the main key is a-moll). I have also long been interested in such topic as a magical shamanistic ritual in the end of rock songs when the music is looped into some conjuring circle - here it is, too, like almost in every song in this one of the best, in my opinion, Russian rock albums. I'm sorry if it's too difficult for my poor English.

Полагаю, что это послание из космоса уже достигло отдалённых уголков Рунета, но это не повод не послушать его ещё раз. Замечу только, что в песне помимо очень сильного текста есть скрытое послание: если прокрутить песню задом наперёд, можно услышать, что начинается она с телерепортажа о хоре пенсионеров из Свердловской области, поющем песни "Тату" и "Глюкозы", а заканчивается рассказом об акции "Беслан - город мира", где, помимо прочего, первоклассники рисуют ангелов-хранителей.

I only want to say that in this song besides a very good text there are some secret message: if we will listen this file in reverse, we'll hear, that the song begins with a TV-news fragment about a choir of pensioners from Sverdlovsk region singing contemporary songs of popular russian pop-groups "Tattoo" and "Glucose", and ends with a story about an action "Beslan is a city of peace", where in addition first graders draws guardian angels.

Valery Gavrilin - Russian notebook (1964) - Stradalnaya

Валерий Гаврилин. "Русская тетрадь". №3. Страдальная.
Рыцарственность фигуры Валерия Гаврилина как-то не сразу осознаётся. На фоне обычной "почвенной" музыки, написанной по принципу "возьми русскую тему и добавь пафоса", его музыка звучит как вызов, она непостижимо гениальна. Русское искусство изредка умеет так тронуть сердце, как не может больше ничто - это "Ёжик в тумане" Норштейна, это "Андрей Рублёв" Тарковского, это "Катерина Измайлова" Шостаковича, к примеру... В этой музыке технически почти ничего нет, она мозолит глаза отсутствием нот и скудностью возможностей теоретический выкладок. Ну как так можно писать?
Chivalry of Valery Gavrilin you usually can't detect at one moment, it comes with time. On the background of ordinary "national" music written with receipt "get this russian theme and add pathos" Gavrilin's music sounds like challenge, it's inconceivable brilliant. Russian art occasionally can touch heart so much that can't do any other art - it's Norshteyn's "Hedgehog in the Fog", it's Tarkovsky's "Andrey Rublev", it's Shostakovich's "Katerina Izmailova", for example... In Gavrilin's music you just can't find anything, this music is shockingly empty - almost without notes, without many possibilities for theoretical analysis. How can he do it?

Sergei Taneyev - John Damascus - Adagio ma non troppo

Сергей Танеев - кантата "Иоанн Дамаскин" - первая часть. Михаил Плетнёв, РНО, Московский государственный камерный хор под управлением В.Минина.
Танеев - верный ученик и друг П.И.Чайковского, умнейший музыкант, не слишком известный широкой публике. Кантата "Иоанн Дамаскин" по одноименной поэме А.К.Толстого написана на смерть Н.А.Рубинштейна, основателя Московской консерватории, который тоже был для Танеева учителем и близким другом. Поражает меня непревзойдённым сочетанием полифонической изощрённости и гармонической стройности, даже лёгкости. Но главное - красивейшая мелодия, которая меня так и не отпускает с того первого раза, когда мы её услышали... Мелодия такого рода в полифонии - редчайшее явление, потому что полифоническая тема должна сочетаться сама с собой во множестве сочетаний и хитросплетений, из-за чего математике иной раз бывает трудно ужиться с песней. Здесь же - полное единство музы и науки.

Taneyev is a faithful pupil and a frind of P.I.Tchaikovsky, clever musician not so familiar to public at large. Cantate "John Damascus" (also known as "A Russian Requiem") on a poem by Count Aleksey Tolstoy written in connection with the death of another Taneev's teacher and friend N.A.Rubinstein. This cantate amaze me by an unbeaten combination of a polyphonic sophistication and a harmonic clarity, even an ease. But firstly it's a most beautiful melody that so often sounds in my mind. This kind of melody is very rare in a polyphony because a polyphonic theme must be very flexible for different combinations and manipulations, and a mathematics can be in a conflict with a poetry. But here in this music we can hear a full unity of muse and science.

Александр Кнайфель - В эфире чистом и незримом, строфы из Тютчева для фортепиано и струнного квартета (1994), часть 1 - Постлюдия ("В каком-то забытьи изнеможенья"). Исполняет Олег Малов. Именно с этой музыки я совершенно потерял голову от этого композитора, который тихо и незаметно небожительствует в миру, душою столь же чист, как его творчество. На эту музыку мы делали фильм.

Boris Tchaikovsky - Six etudes for strings and organ - Andante

Борис Чайковский - советский композитор 2-й пол. 20 века. В его стиле парадоксальным образом сочетается затаённая нежность мелодики, предельная ударная жёсткость и фантастические тембровые находки. Это Andante из "6 этюдов для органа и струнных" - малоизвестная жемчужина его наиболее мягкой лирики.

Boris Tchaikovsky is a soviet composer of the second half of the 20th century. In his style in a paradoxical combination we find suppressed delicate melodiсs, maximum percussive hardness and fantastic timbral godsends. This Andante from "Six etudes for strings and organ" is a little known pearl of his most gentle lyricism.
